Officers reported they were contacted by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Officers then found many other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police report preliminary tests show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for details.

An important representative stated the incident made him without words and had to be resolved promptly.

"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
