Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times late to take a shock lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final seconds to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 penalty win.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
